Ochre from Morocco

On the plateaux of the central High Atlas mountains, in a stunning landscape, one last producer quarries various seams of yellow ochre. The ochre is calcinated on site in a wood-fired oven and then crushed at a nearby centre. It is used for lime paint and tadelakts.
