The last windmill to crush colours

Coloured earths are not produced in Holland, but it is a place where the tradition of crushing colours is kept alive in a mill situated north of Amsterdam. Pigments that come from all over the world are still crushed here by two heavy grinding stones worked by wind power in a traditional Dutch windmill, the Verfmolen de Kat in Zaandam.
